Universal Sets Up The Adjustment Bureau

While Universal Pictures waits for the next installment in the "Bourne" franchise, the studio has stepped up to secure Matt Damon's next film.

Universal is finalizing a deal with Media Rights Capital for "The Adjustment Bureau," a contemporary love story with sci-fi overtones that was written and will be directed by George Nolfi. The material is loosely based on a Philip K. Dick story.

Nolfi will produce with Chris Moore, Michael Hackett and Bill Carraro. Production begins in September.

Nolfi, who scripted "The Bourne Ultimatum," is also penning the next Jason Bourne vehicle for Damon and director Paul Greengrass.

In "The Adjustment Bureau," Damon will play a charismatic congressman who seems destined for national political stardom. He meets a beautiful ballet dancer, only to find strange circumstances keeping their sparks from catching fire.

Damon will star in the pic after he completes playing a South African rugby team captain in "The Human Factor," the Warner Bros. drama that Clint Eastwood is directing and stars Morgan Freeman as Nelson Mandela.

Thoughts:

I heard about this film last week from some sources and I'm glad a studio finally picked it up. I like the premise and I simply love the fact that its somewhat based on a Philip K. Dick story. Its going to be interesting to see what Matt Damon can do with this film. Pretty crazy that we have both this and the next installment in the Jason Bourne series coming out on the same year, and both by Universal Pictures. Cant wait to hear more about this film.

Fox Unleashes The Final Trailer For X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Fox and MTV have posted the final trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Opening in theaters on May 1st, the Gavin Hood-directed prequel stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Danny Huston, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Lynn Collins.

Thoughts:

Trailer looks awesome, but I think I liked the previous one better. This one does show more footage and more characters such as a young Cyclops, but I'm not even sure why hes in this film. Could this be something Fox cooked as some sort of an apology for what happens to him in X-Men: The Last Stand? Don't know, but the movie is looking pretty good and is something Ill probably see.

Poster And A Trailer For Michael Mann's Public Enemies

MSN Movies has a first look at the new poster from Universal Pictures' Public Enemies, starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Giovanni Ribisi, Billy Crudup, Stephen Dorff, Rory Cochrane, Stephen Lang, David Wenham, Stephen Graham, Channing Tatum and Jason Clarke.

Opening in theaters on July 1st, the Michael Mann-directed action-thriller is the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger (Depp)—the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public.

Thoughts:

Poster looks great and I cant wait for this film. This is easily one of my most anticipated movies of 2009. The cast looks great and I enjoy most of director Michael Mann's work. Trailer is now online and it looks fantastic. I'm so going to be their opening night.

DiCaprio Set To Star In Christopher Nolan's Inception

Leonardo DiCaprio will star in "Inception," the science-fiction film that Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight) wrote and will direct as his next pic at Warner Bros.

The project shoots this year and is slated to be released in summer 2010, with Nolan and Emma Thomas producing. DiCaprio's deal is in final negotiations.

Script has been kept under wraps but the studio calls it a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.

Thoughts:

OK, now I'm excited about this film. I was alittle skeptical at first, but with the star power of DiCaprio, its sure to be a great film.

First Look at Angelina Jolie in Sony's Salt

In Columbia Picture's Salt, Angelina Jolie stars as Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who swore an oath to duty, honor, and country. When she is accused by a defector of being a Russian sleeper spy, Salt goes on the run to clear her name and ultimately prove she is a patriot. Using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative, she must elude capture and protect her husband or the world's most powerful forces will erase any trace of her existence.

Liev Schreiber stars as Winter, Salt's boss and friend on the Russian desk at the CIA, and Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Peabody, a CIA counter-intelligence officer.

Thoughts:

The pictures look pretty interesting particularly the one where she has black hair. If their is one lady out their that knows how to make an action packed movie, its Angelina Jolie. Hopefully we get a trailer soon so we can see how this film is shaping up to be.

Thoughts:
Alot of movies swapped places with one another this week at the box office. Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail held the number one spot with an estimated $16.2 million. The film dropped alot when compared to last weeks numbers, but this shouldn't be a problem considering the film passed its budget and now stands at a total of $64 million with a shot at $85 million when its good and done.

Disney's Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience brought in $12.5 million which was well below what many expected. Last years Hannah Montana concert opened with $30 million and it was in less theaters too. Fox Searchlight's mega Oscar hit "Slumdog Millionaire" continued to dominate the charts and came in third place with an impressive $12 million which was up from last weeks numbers. I cant believe people are still seeing this movie, I mean I what have thought many people have already seen it by now. Coming in fourth place was Fox's sleeper action hit "Taken" with $9 million. The Liam Neeson thriller is still going strong and is already at $107 million in total. The film has definitely been Fox's good luck charm and should continue to bring in solid numbers in the coming weeks.

The chick flick "He's Just Not That Into You" from Warner Bros. took in $6 million this week for a total of $78 million. The film is going to have a slight problem reaching the $100 million sweet spot, but it definitely has a chance. Sony's Mall Cop continued to do good numbers even though the film was released sometime ago. The comedy starring Kevin James brought in $5 million for a total of $128 million. The stop-motion animated flick "Coraline" from Focus took a bit of a tumble this week due to Disney's Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. The dark animated flick from director Henry Selick took home an average $5.2 million for a total of $61 million. I can still see the film reaching $70 million before the end of its run.

Fox's new release this week was Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li which came in eighth place with a measly $4.7 million. Honestly, who didn't expect this film to bomb? Rounding out the 9th and 10th spot was Disney's Confessions of a Shopaholic and Sony's Fired Up.

New Terminator Salvation Poster and Trailer

Yahoo! Movies has debuted a new poster and trailer for Terminator Salvation which is still scheduled for release on May 21st.

In the McG-directed film, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet's operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Thoughts:

The poster and the trailer look awesome, but I'm still somewhat worried about this film. I mean that trailer didn't look anything like the previous Terminator films. I'm glad their trying some new things with the franchise, but I just hope they don't ruin it. The film definitely looks action packed and I cant wait to see it, but I just hope this doesn't just turn into a all hype and no show thing.
