Thoughts:20th Century Fox has released the first trailer for James Cameron's Avatar, opening in 3D theaters and IMAX 3D on December 18. The sci-fi action-adventure stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Peter Mensah, Laz Alonso, Wes Studi, Stephen Lang and Matt Gerald.
Avatar is the story of an ex-Marine who finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people.
Wow, that trailer was nothing less than breathtaking. Theirs alot riding on Avatar considering its massive budget (over $200 million) and the fact that its Cameron's first feature film since 1997's Titanic. Having just seen the trailer just minutes ago, I can honestly say it will surely live up to the hype. If their was any film out their that deserved to be seen in 3D, this is it.

Looks OK, but far from the hype this film has been getting. With the film being the most expensive production yet, its going to have to open really big at the box office if the studio wants to break even. I need to see more footage before getting excited about this.
Well, technically the trailer is part of the hype. Whether or not the movie will live up to its hype or not is a completely different story...
But personally, I don't get the hype.
I'm not sure if it will actually live up to the hype its been getting, but I think its going to make way for future films that will incorporate Avatar technology. While its somewhat tough to judge if the film will deliver with its story, theirs no doubt that it looks visually compelling.
