Thoughts:
Sorry for the late box office news, but I was really busy with work this week. Good opening for The Day the Earth Stood Still, but I was expecting the number to be much higher. This is a good opening for Fox whose last few films (The Rocker, Meet Dave, Space Chimps, Babylon A.D., City of Ember) haven't been the box office smashes the studio had expected them to be. Still, with negative reviews and bad word of mouth, I'm not expecting this film to cross the $100 million mark. Four Christmases stood pretty still and still managed to gross another $13 million, the film is easily on its way to pass the $100 million mark. Twilight is starting to slow down, but that isn't a bad thing. The film has already passed its budget and all this is just icing on the top. Australia is still hanging on and is continuing to try to make back its budget. The film currently sits at almost $38 million with probably another $14 million worldwide. It still isn't enough for the $78 million produced film. Their is already rumors of a February DVD/Blu Ray release. Milk had another good week especially since the film opened in more theaters now. Just got done with the review for it early this week. Easily one of the years best film.
